Dragon Boating
Training & events
Come along to train, race or just be social.
Purple Warriors aim to meet and train each month in different locations throughout the country.
What is a training day like?
A typical training day is members, families and friends arriving at the venue for a brew and bacon buttie. Followed by a briefing about the day and a session on the water. Two more dragon boat sessions will follow with time for the cake and usually with hot lunch provided and, of course, time to socialise and develop as a member of the Purple Warriors family.
All equipment will be provided including paddles and buoyancy aids.
You will be instructed and monitored by a qualified coach at all times.
Bring clothes you would normally wear for sports activities.
You may get a little wet so bring a change of clothes with you.
How much will it cost?
It will cost a lot less than you could imagine.
In fact, we may be able to fully support your costs for attending one of our events.

We love to race!
We are a competitive racing team. In almost all instances we compete against crews without impairment and love it. Especially when we win.
We race in regional competitions, The British Dragonboat Association (BDA) National competition, European and World events, we can compete in them all.
At present, only the Club Crew World Championship has an impaired category. Charity and social events see the Purple Warriors flying the flag for the impaired.
When you start to want to compete seriously more regularly, we have arrangements with dragon boat clubs around the country so that you can paddle more often and locally.

Membership
Free for serving and former armed forces personnel with impairment. Charity income is used to make attendance at events free or very low cost. Including international events.
Associate Members (i.e. anyone else) £30 p.a. Encouraged to participate in events including overseas but at their own cost.
Sounds good and you want to try it or you've tried it, loved it and want to become a member?
The National Championships
Watch the movie of the Purple Warriors team racing (and winning) at the biggest UK dragon boat event held at the National Watersports Centre in Nottingham.
